NORTH NEW GUINEA

ALLIED ATTACKS. (Rec. 9.45.) SYDNEY, Jan. 19. More land fighting has occurred around Mubo, in North New Guinea, fifteen miles inland from Salamaua where Australian jungle troops last week made a heavy raid, killing more than two hundred and fifty Japanese, and destroying the Mubo headquarters and Buileing radio station. Forty more casualties have been inflicted on the enemv in recent skirmishes. while Allied attack planes, supporting the jungle troops, have made strafing runs along the trad from Salamaua to Komiatum. Strong forces of Beaufighters and Mitchells and medium bombers have again raided Lae, which is the target of daily An enemv fighter ’plane on the ground was destroyed. Fires were started among supply dumps and installations. Targets at Madang and Finschhafen and tfie aerodrome at Gasmata (New Britain) have again been raided.
