DRIVERS’ DISPUTE

A COMPLETE AGREEMENT WELLINGTON, Oct. 30. A full settlement has been reached in the Court of Arbitration in the Dominion motor and horse drivers dispute. There were 27 clauses in dispute when the case was called, after which an adjournment was made to enable the parties to confer to, reduce the scope of the dispute. When the court resumed, the- workers’ advocate, Mr F. C. Allenby, announced a comnlete settlement, and applied to -the court for what has been agreed on to be made into an award.' The employers’ advocate, Mr W. E. Andersen, endorsed what Mr Allenby said. 'Mr Justice Tyndall paid a tribute to the conciliatory attitude of the parties’ representatives. The new award will differ from the old award principally in the method of computing the overtime worked over the 40-hour week. The- wages paid by the licensed operators have been adjusted in relation to the wages paid other drivers. The seasonal work clause has been clarified. The term of the award is two years.
