WAIUTA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.) Temporary appointments to the local Home Guard are as follows:— To be Corporals: E. F. Byrne and W. G. Harris: Lance Corporals: F. Thorn, A. - M. Tapper, J. Griggs, V. Leathwick. and A. R. Gill. The iweeklv parades are being well attended.
Mr. H. Parkinson was a vititor to Christchurch during the week end. Stoker Jeff Tomlinson, is spending leave here with his mother, Mrs. J. Dulev.
Private Ralph Baird, is spending leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Baird. Mr. A. J. Smith was a visitor to Greymouth during the week end.
Private Les Stephens returned on leave bv Thursday’s express. Mesdames A. Stephens P Connors, and H Gardiner who had been visiting Christchurch have returned. ■ Sappers W. P. Rodden and . Daye Whyte, spent (week end leave in the township. Mrs. Cron, of Hokitika, who has been spending a few days here as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. Prendegast has returned.
