The U. S. Office of War Information has announced that war casualties among the army, navy, marine corps, and coastguard Philippine scouts totalled 44,163. These figures do not include the casualties of the Philippine Commonwealth Army, which are not yet known, but which were heavy. Details are as follows: — U.S. 'ARMY. * I Dead 902 Wounded .-. .. .. 1,413 Missing .. .. .. 17,452 Total ... 19,76 I The majority of the missing Army men are believed to have been taken prisoners on Batan Peninsula, and on Corregidor and Java. There only are twenty soldiers officially confirmed as prisoners. U.S. NAVY. Dead 3,420 Wounded 1,051 Missing 7,672 Total 19,767 PHILLIPINE SCOUTS Dead .. 479 Wounded .. .... .. 754 Missing .. .. .. 11,000 Prisoners .. .. . . U Total 12,244 In addition the missing include 1,022 Navy personnel.
