'f; \ ■ <T.' ■ '■ /-'- : ■ “ fvy Ninnes of Millerton who is leaving for Wellington to take a position s;in the Public Service, was the gueit at a farewell social in the English iChurch on Tuesday evening last, and\on Wednesday hei' younger friends n'Aet at the home of Mrs Moynihan,V where a very enjoyable evening wa> spent, during which she was presented with a gift. ’All wished her success in her new position. Aircraftsman J. Herdman is at home on sicll leave. Mrs W. Stang (President, of the Millerton Womens’ Institute) returned recently from Murchison where she attended to Institute affairs.
Mr. and Mrs D. Young have left for Nelson, where they intend to reside in the future.
Mr. Theo. Dodds, who has been in the Westport Hospital for some weeks, as the result of a mine accident is progressing favourably. . Airs A. ’ Dellaway of Wellington is visiting her parents on the Hill, Mr. iand Mrs W. Clarke. [ Private T. Robertson has returned to camp after spending leave at Millerton.’
Signalman A. Corbett who was home on leave last, week has returned to' camp. Private J. Orman is home at present.
'Mr. A. Watson, of Petone was a recent visitor. The local mine continues to work eleven days fortnightly. There have been a large number of employees off work with influenza. •
