WOOL PRICE RISE
WORTH OVER £220,000 TO CANTERBURY.
P A CHRISTCHURCH, May 25. Based on the weight of the wool appraised at Christchurch in the 1941-42 season and its total value, the advance of 15 per cent, announced in the price for the 1942-43 season clip should represent an increase to the growers at the Christchurch appraisal centre of £223,430. The wool appraised here does not represent the total' provincial clip. A substantial proportion of Mid-Can-terburv wool is appraised at Timaru. Part of the Southern Marlborough crop comes to Christchurch, and also that from the West Coast and Chatham Islands
AUSTRALIAN INCREASE. CANBERRA, May 25
The increase in the price to be paid by Britain for Australian wool is estimated to return pastoralists an additional £9,000,000. The Australian clip, this year, is expected to be worth £69,000,000. .
