British" national labour
COUNCIL. (Rec. 1.20.)) LONDON,. April 28. The - National Council’s bf Labour May Day Manifesto states: “With depeened resolve in this third year of the, war the working people find themselves united as never before to continue the’ struggle for the liberation of mankind. Equality of sacrifice has not yet been fully achieved, and maximum efficiency has still to be attained. Organised-Trade Union co-operatjve and Labour movements have given steady support to ■ the National Government, ’ which undertook., to organise the nation for total war. We cqll on the Government to redeem its promises by organising without regard to vested interests the full resources of the State for offensive warfare, and deal vigorously with the existent social evils which weaken the Nation’s purpose and expose the mass of people to exploitation.”
