Thursday, 26—7.5 a.m.; 7.32 p.m. Friday, 27—7.56 a.m.; 8.18 p.m. Saturday, 28—8.36 a.m.; 8.56 p.m. Sunday, I—9-15 a.m.; 9.35 p.m. Personal: Sapper Seale is spending leave in Westport and is the guest of Mr and Mrs L. Salmon, Brougham Street. Mr C. B. Rawlins, Inspector of Weights and Measures, Greymouth, is visiting Westport. Mrs W. J. Dickel of Rotherham, is visiting Westport as the guest her sister, Mrs A. Petley. Mesdames W. Currie and Brownlie, have returned from a visit to Grevmouth. Mr Harry Mettrick, who. has been on a holiday visit to Denniston, left to-day on return to Christchurch. Miss Noeline Kearns, of the W.A. A.F.. leaves on return to Christchurch to-day, after visiting her mother, at Westport Mr P. Angus (Locomotive Superintendent), Mr Dallaston (Superintendent of Railway Workshops) ana Mr Binstead (Locomotive Engineer!) who have been visiting Westport, left yesterday on return to Christchurch. Owen, the three-year-old son ot Mr and Mrs A. Woodward, Utopia, broke his arm last evening, when he fell from a fence rail two and a-half feet in height. After medical treatment, he returned home. A very quiet wedding took place at St. John’s Church last Monday evening when Eleanor Elizabeth, omy daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Tracey, Esplanade, Westport, was married to George Beckett, fourth son of Mr and Mrs Roderique of Bluff.

Hospital Board: Those present at yesterday s monthly meeting of the Buller District Hospital Board were Hon. W. EL Mclntyre chairman), Messrs! J. Dowgray, J. Ward, J. Niven, W. P. Caldwell, Mesdames E. B. Ridsdale and M. Robertson, and the Secretary, Mr G. Powell. The visiting committee reported that the bulk store for supplies at the Buller Hospital was a great improvement. With regard to overdue payments from the Buller County Council, Mr Ward reported that these would be made any time after March 5. Mr McIntyre said that he had interviewed the Health Department concerning the laundry and tenders had been called for this. Tenders had also been called for the Denniston ambulance. Ministerial ~ authority .would be forthcoming immediately if a satisfactory tender for the laundry were received. With regard to payment of outstanding fees, the Board would have to take drastic action. It was decided to hold a special meeting to deal with outstanding accounts. Mesdames Ridsdale and Robertson were appointed as a visiting committee for next month. Westport Coal Coy. advised that satisfactory arrangements for housing the ambulance would be made. The Department of Health wrote, recommending a specification for Denniston ambulance, and advising that when the cost thereof was ascertained, the application for . consent to the expenditure would be placed before the Minister. —Received. The Regis- ( tered Nurses’ Association, advised that the Association considered that salaries or wages paid registered nurses employed at Soldiers’ Mobilisation Hospitals should be in alignment with those of registered nurses on permanent staffs of hospital boards. The Board expressed its agreement with this. Hawke’s Bay Board advised that it had decided to waive all claims under Section 92 in respect of outpatients’ treatment. —lt was decided to enter into a reciprocal arrangement with the Hawke’s Bay Board. North Canterbury Hospital Board advised that owing to the high cost of maintaining specialist services the Board could not agree to this Board’s request to forego claims for out-patients under Section 92. The payment by the Government of 60 per cent, of the cost' of wages and materials did not reimburse the Board. Regarding hospitals being declared essential institutions, it w'as pointed out that under the regulations no members of the staff could leave the Board's employment without special authorisation. Hammond and McArthur. Ltd., forwarded cheque for £l3 from the “Gall and Collect” art union; £6 for Millerton, £5 for Granity; £3 for Denniston. Dr. J. G. Harkness wrote giving three months’ notice of resignation from his position as Medical Officer at Denniston, as from February 28. Mr Dowgray moved that if a doctor could be obtained, the Health Department should be asked for permission to accept the resignation. 'Mr Dowgray’s motion was carried.
