Thirty survivors have landed at Fort Pierce, in Florida. TANKER TORPEDOED. (Rec. 9.10). WASHINGTON, Feb., 24. The U.S. Navy has announced that the tanker “Republic” has been torpedoed off the Atlantic coast of the United States. Twenty-eight survivors from her have landed at West Palm Beach. They said' that two torpedoes hit the “Republic” on Saturday night, but the ship was not sunk. Three of the crew were killed by torpedoes. Two others were drowned. >
