HOKITIKA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent) HOKITIKA, February 24. It is learned that Private W. Reynolds, son of Mr. W. Reynolds of Kaihinu, is a prisoner ot war, having been captured in Crete, and is now i a camp in Germany. Dr. R. F. Aitken, who has been on ci holiday visit to the North Island, has returned. The R.S.A. Executive at last night's meeting decided to purchase a wireless set for soldier patients in Westland Hospital, to which Messrs Mitchell and Floyd were appointed visitors for the coming month, me Secretary was directed to inquire of the Hospital regarding an account for an ambulance for A. J. McEwan, of Jacob’s River. It was decided to write to a member requesting him to become financial or to return his badge at once. It was decided to inquire at Headquarters as to the Home Guard functioning without being in uniform, and what, the position would be in the event of an invasion, if the members were in mufti. It was resolved that, in view of climatic conditions, it was not possible to obtain supplies of seeds to forward to the Old Country. A. reissue of a badge to Mr. R. Trembath was approved. A donation of £2 was received from the National War Fund. Headquarters offered a supply of miniature tin hats for financial appeals.
