(Our Own Correspondent) Mr J. Peterson, who had been on a visit to Ross for the past week, has returned. . • Mrs Diedrichs, of Evan’s Creek, is on a visit to Hokitika for medical treatment. His local parishioners have learned with regret of the earlv departure of Rev. Father Joyce, parish priest of Ross, for Christchurch, on promotion to the position of Administrator of the Cathedral parish. Father Joyce, who has been seven years stationed in this district, will be succeeded by Rev. Father Jas.' McGuire early next month. , , , ( Mr G. Robertson, who has been attending a Home Guard training camp, returned on Saturday. Mr and Mrs Mackay, of Herepo, paid a visit to Greyrnouth on Friday. Mrs H. Kidd was a visitor to Greymouth last week. Mr C. Hende is at present on a visit to Grevmouth A fat and store ppttle sale he.d here last Wednesday was a success from the sellers’ point of view, both yards being cleared at satisfactory prices. The weather, which had been at its best for the past fortnight, gave the farmers a treat in the hay-makmg period. The majority will welcome the rain which was needed to refill the taiiKS, Privates P. Haddock and S. Kirby are here at present on leave from camp. Local residents attending the Westland races on Saturday occupied u couple of service buses.
