VISITS OF GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES. P.A, WELLINGTON, February 23. “The people of New Zealand and Australia are bound closer than ever by the common danger threatening them,” the Prime Minister (Mr. x Fraser) said to-day. The visits of Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Coates to the Commonwealth is probably one of many exchanges between the Governments and staffs of the two countries.” He added that the present visit would include talks on mutual defence, strategy and supply, and would include consultations with Admiral Leary. MISSION INTERVIEWS MR CURTIN. (Rec. 11.40). CANBERRA. Feb 23. The All-Party New Zealand Mission, headed by Hon. D. G. Sullivan and Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, have arrived in Canberra. They have had a long interview with the Prime Minister (Mr J. Curtin). After the interview the Mission attended a meeting of the Advisory War Council. The visit of the Mission relates to war co-operation.
War Insurance AUSTRALIAN PLAN (Rec. 1.30). CANBERRA, Feb. 23. . Australia’s greatest insurance plan, covering war damage, came into operation to-day with the gazetting of reputations under the Nationar Security Act. It covers all property m Australian territories against aii raids enemy land attacks, or damage resulting from scorched earth policyCompulsory insurance classes include: Buildings at 4s per cent.; stock and plant at 8s per cent.; and wool' in store at 2s 6d per cent. Voluntary classes include: Personal chattels, including furniture, clothing and motor cars at 8s per cent., livestock, farm improvements, and growing crops at 4s per cent., fruit trees and vines at 8s per cent.
