Mr G. M. Rutter, who is a patient in the Grey Hospital, is still on the serious list. Mrs S. O’Dea and her daughter, Miss J. O’Dea of Christchurch, arrived ' yesterday from Christchurch on a visit to friends in Cobden. Mrs B. Haughey and her two children who have been the guests of Mrs ’J. Griffen, Gladstone Siding, leave to-day on return to Temuka. Guests at Revington’s Hotel include:—Messrs S. R. Whale, H. A. Thomas R. V. Pearce (Christchurch),’ W. R. Flintoff (Wellington), W. Grady (Nelson). Rev. Father Browne, who has been seriously ill, returns to his charge at Ahmra this week. He will be assisted by Rev. Father O’Mahoney, who was recently ordamed. Passengers by _ yesterday’s express to Christchurch included:—Mrs. W. A. Croft (to Invercargill), Mrs. B. Mossop (to Dunedin), and Mr. and Mrs. A. Neilson. The King and Queen attended the christening of the infant son of tru Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who was named William Henry Andrew Frederick, stated a London caolegram.. Mr. J. A. Walker, who recently underwent an operation in tn a Christchurch Hospital for the removal of an eye, following an accident in the Dobson Mine on February 13, is progressing satisfactorily.

Rev. Father P. A. Joyce, of Ross, leaves at the end of the week on transfer to the oilice of Administrator of the Christchurch Cathedral. Rev. Father Jas. Maguire, of Christchurch, and formerly of Greymouth, will replace him at Ross.

Sergeant Frederick Stanley Partridge, R.N.Z.A.F., whose mother, Mrs. Partridge, . resides in Marlborough Street Greymouth, Is missing as a' result of air operations on February 16, 1942, according to a cablegram received yesterday by his mother from the Air Ministry, London.

Mr A. Forrest left last evening for Wellington, where he has accepted an appointment with the Public Service. Mr Forrest who was previously employed on the staff of the “Grey River Argus”,. was farewelled prior to his departure and made a suitable presentation.
