BRUNNER NOTES
(Our own correspondent). The Mayor, Mr. J. Smeaton presided over a meeting of the E.u.b. Central Committee, held m the Brunner Borough, Council office, Sunday morning. Arran^em^ n Xied air raid warnings were r completed. It was decided that the Law and Order Committee should meet on Monday, February 16th„ at 7 p.m., in Dixon’s Rooms. A trial black-out will take place on Wednesday. February 18th., between 9.30 and 10 p.m. Wardens wifi be on duitv to report any laxity on the parti of residents. Allocatiqns were made for the respective E.P.S. services. Advice will be served on eacn individual in the course pl a days. Under the auspices of the Brunner Band, a delightful banquet was held in the Taylorville Pavilion on Saturday evening. The usual toasts were Vocal items were rendered bv Miss U. Fentiman, Mrs. H. Dobbin, Mrs. Rostern, and Mr. J. Myers. Messrs R. Kerr and W. Williams contributed a duet on banjo and mouth organ. A cornet solo was rendered by the Band Conductor, Mr. T. Miller. Mr. F. Fletcher (Darby), was the star turn of the evening, playing drums with, and on. everything at hand. Mr. Tom McGuinness, a former Brunner bandsman, who is visiting the district, spoke on the progress made by the Band. When he was in it there were only a handful of men struggling to make something of their band. Now there were 25 uniformed members. Miss Watson supplied the accompaniment for the items. Miss N. Smith, has left to ’take up studies at Christchurch.
