WEST COAST TOURANMENT. ' Perfect weather and fast greens marked the opening yesterday of the West Coast Bowling Centre’s annual tournament. The West Coast fours were begun yesterday on the Greymouth and Karoro greens, and will be continued to-day. The pairs will be commenced to-morrow on the Greymouth, Karoro, Runanga, and. Cobden greens. Post-section play in both the fours and the pairs will commence on Friday. Thirty-one rinks and 63 pairs are competing in the tournament, representing the Greymouth, Karoro Cobden, Runanga, Westport, Canterbury, Riccarton Racecourse. R.S.A. (Christchurch), Sydenham, United (Christchurch), Barrington, Edgeware', St. Albans. Lyttelton, Opawa and Linwood Clubs. . The tournament was officially opened on the Greymouth green by the President of the Centre, Mr J. Stokes, after the green had been handed over to the Centre for the week bv the President of the Greymouth Club, Mr J. S. Robertson. Mr Stokes congratulated the caretakers of the various clubs on the excellent state of the greens, and thanked the visiting bowlers for their support. At the Karoro green, the green was handed over by the President of the Club, Mr J. M.‘ Bunt, to Mr T. Bowes, a member of the committee of the Centre.
