HOUSEWIVES’ UNION
BRUNNER BRANCH. A well attended and very enjoyable evening was spent in the Dobson Hail last week, the occasion of the function being to farewell Mrs. McGowan (the promoter of Housewives’ Unions) who had finished her tour of organising on the West Coast. Mrs. McGowan has met with a good measure of success in this venture, and during her stay has made many friends. This was very evident by the number of well wishers who gathered to say good bye, and also by the sumptuous supper which was provided by the members of Lie Brunner Branch of the Housewives’ Union. Musical items '>ere given by Mr TWalker and several songs by Mrs. Browning and Mr. T. Murphy. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing GREYMOUTH BRANCH. The initial meeting of the Greymouth Branch of the Housewives' i Union was held in the Lyceum Han on Thursday and was presided over by Mrs. Harwood. There was a fair attendance and quite a few important matters were dealth with concerning women. Judging by the interest shown by those present, this organisation will play a big part in meeting the demands of the housewife.
