IKAMATUA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) . .Mr. and Mrs. E. Langdon, of Hokitika, spent the week-end in Ikamatua. Mr. S. McConnell, Stationmaster at Ikamatua, and Mrs. McConnell, aie standing a holiday in Canterbury and Otago. ■ It was indeed satisfactory to see such a good attendance as that at the weekly physical culture class, and it is to be boioed members will keep the attendance up. The Ikamatua Golf Club on Saturday held their sixth annual ball in the Ikamatua Hall, which was most artistically decorated and was indeed a credit to those responsible. Mrs. Gill deserves special mention as she was in charge of the committee. An excellent supper was served by the capable hands of Mrs. J. oreen and Mrs. H. Cullen and their many willing helpers. The President of the Club donated a special prize of £2 2s Od for the “Monte Carlo” and “Lucky Spot,” th e latter being won b v Mr. and Mrs. E. Langdon, .of Hokitika. Numerous other prizes were debated by members of the Golf Club. Credit is due to the Joint Secretaries, Messrs Pfahlert, Sheldon and Cullen. Music was supplied by the Kit Kat Band, of Greymouth, and the M’sC. were Messrs H. Steel, J. Fitzgerald, and S. Brand. There were present visitors from Grevmouth, Reef ton, Blackball, Hokitika and the Grey Valley in attendance, and altogether the ball was a wonderful success, being one of the finest functions held in the district for some years. Ikamatua Patriotic Committee funds have been considerably increased bv the following generous donations:—Grey River Dredge. £ll 11s Od; Mr. W. C. Mir fin, £2; Fair and Entertainment Fund, £B2 8s 6d; total to date, £6ll Is 4d. This is something that the district may well be- proud of.
