CATHOLIC LEADERS

Denounce Hitlerism (Rec. 7.20). LONDON, October 5. The “Daily Mail’s” correspondent on the German frontier says:— “Churches in Germany and occupied territories are making their voice heard against Hitlerism. Rev. Bruno Desolages, the Rector of the Catholic Church at Toulouse. France, has called on French Catholics to denounce Hitlerism. He said: “God cannot permit Germany to win the war. No one, knowing the story ot Germany’s Satanic persecution of all forms of religion, can possiblv desire the triumph of Nazism.” The Bishop of Munter Count Von Galen, who has a tremendous following in Westphalia, Germany, has preached three denunciations of Hitlerism during the past month. In one he said: “There is neither' justice nor freedom in Germany. Nazism is more to be feared than are British bombs.” The head of the Gestapo, Herr Himmler, has urged Bishop Von Galen s execution, but Hitler is reluctant to antagonise t7i6 Westphalians.
