GOLDMINING

ALEXANDER MINES LIMITED. Gold returns for September are, Battery Department. 128 tons of Ore crushed for 72 ozs 3dwt. melted gold, valued at £560/-/-. Cyanide Department, this has not been cleaned up. Concentrates, in addition to the above, 6.5 tons were saved, containing 34.172 ozs. gold, valued at £270/-/-. The mine report for month of September states: Work has been confined to ore production above No. 6 Intermediate Level and north oi No. 2 Rise. The Intermediate Level stopes shows no change, except in the extreme south end. The lode here is gradually improving in size and now averages 2 feet in width. Stoping to the north of No. 2 Rise, the lode ranges from 1 to 4 feet and has improved in length,, the stoping length being now 66 feet. 133 tons sent to Battery.

MOUNT HUTT DREDGE LAUNCHED. The Mount Hutt Gold Dredge at Mai-Mai was successfully launched yesterday afternoon, and will commence operating in January. BLACKBALL CREEK. The Blackball Creek dredge return last week was 45 ounces from 120 hours.
