NEW GREY INSPECTOR Change at Hokitika Further police transfers announced yesterday include that of Inspector W. E Packer, of Greymouth, to Dunedin. lie will oe replaced at Greymouth by Sub-Inspector D. LCalwell, of Auckland. Sergeant W. Cooper, oi Greymouth, has been transferred to Hokitika, replacing Sergeant W. P. Gilligan, who is moved to Waimate, where Sergeant J. Crowley has been on relieving duty. . Sergeant R. C. Mcßobie. of Christchurch, replaces Sergeant Cooper al Greymouth. P.A. WELLINGTON, September 16. The retirement of two senior police officers, Inspector T. Gibson (Invercargill), and Superintendent S. Rawle (Christchurch), has made a necessary number of promotions and transfers to fill the vacancies. The changes were announced by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. D. J. Cummings, to-day. Inspector H. Martin (Christchurch), will fill the vacancy' at Invercargill. Inspector T. Shanahan (New Plymouth), is to be promoted to Superintendent. and is appointed to the vacant position in Christchurch. Inspector J. Carroll (Nelson), will replace Inspector Martin at Christchurch. Sub-Inspector W. Pender (Auckland), is promoted to ue inspector. He will replace Inspector Carroll. Senior Sergeant j.. F. H. MacNamara (Gisborne), will be promoted to be Sub-Inspector, and will fill inspector Pender’s position. Inspector R. R. J'. Ward, in charge of the detective staff at Auckland, is to be promoted to be Superintendent at Auckland, replacing superintendent J Cummings, who is to come to head office at Wellington. Inspector J. Sweeney (Wellington* will take the position vacated by Inspector Ward. Sub-Inspector L. R. Capp (Wellington), is promoted to be inspector, and will succeed Inspector Sweeney. Senior Sergeant D. J. M. Hewitt (T.imaru), will be promoted to be Sub-Inspector, and will replace SubInspector Capp. Inspector D. Scott (Auckland), will replace Inspector Shanahan at New Plymouth. insoector D. J. O'Neill (Dunedin), is to'take Inspector Scott's place at Auckland. Inspector W. E. Packer (Greymouth), will go to the Dunedin vacancy in succession to inspector O'Neill. Sub-Inspector D. L. Calwell (Auckland). promoted to be Inspector, will go to' Greymouth Senior Sergeant H. J'. Joyce (Auckland), is to be promoted to be SubInspector, remaining at Auckland. Sergeant H. Barnes (faihape), is to become Senior-Sergeant and to come to Wellington. Sergeant E. McGettigan, Auckland (formerly of Kumara), is transferred to Whangarei. Sergeant P. Geraghty is transferred from Huntly to Parnell. Sergeant W. J. V. Grainger, is transferred from Whangarei to Huntly. -
