[Our own Correspondent;. REEFTON, September 15. Mr. Michael Sullivan, a very old resident of the district, residing at Merrijigs, is reported missing. He was last seen on Tuesday of last week on the Merrijigs road. The police were informed of his absence on Saturday, .and a search was instituted, with no result. Yesterday a partv of 22 men under Sergeant Ebbett' and the police set out . lor Merrijigs, where they were reinforced by eight men from the Big River In a' systematic search, an area of about five miles was completely combed, but without result. Mr. Sullivan is over eighty years of age, and was not robust. Unless he has been taken in by some residents—and these are a few in Merrijigs—fears are entertained that he may not be found alive. Mr. Duggan, of Palmerston North, arrived in Reefton last evening via Nelson, being called here owing to the serious sickness of his young child. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Collett and child, are in Reefton on a short visit, and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eklund Mr. Collett was previously Forestry Officer in Reefton. A general meeting of the Bowling Club was held at the pavilion yesterday, there being a large attendance,' and the President (Mr. C. J. Willis), being in the chair. The necessity of procuring a motor mower was considered, and it was decided that one be purchased. The Ladies' Committee have promised to assist, and will hold a cake day with * that object in view at an early ciate. ft was decided to play the Runanga Club for the Westland Breweries Cup in November, and to commence competitions at an eariy date, also to invite the Inangahua Band to be present at (he opening day.
