Mlisses F. Moth and H. McPhie have returned to Wallsend from a six months’ visit to the Nelson district. Mrs Todd (President), was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Brunner Women’s Institute, held in the Pavilion at Taylorville, when there was a good attendance. Apologies for absence were received from | three members, who are on the sick list. Invitations were received from Barrytown and Greymouth ■ Institutes to attend their birthday celebrations next month. Regret was expressed at not being able to accept Barrytown Institute’s invitation, owing to difficultv of transport. Correspondence was received regarding the visit of Miss Roberts (Home Science Department, Otago University), arrangements being left to the Secretary to deai with the matter, it was reported that the chimney had been built in the Institute room at the Pavilion; the room being occupied for the first time that evening. Although the room is on the small side, all members expressed delight at its cosiness. The motto for the montn was: “In that We Love We Serve." A competition, “My Prettiest Handkerchief’’, brought forth a number of entries, the winners being Mrs Gutberlet 1; Mrs J. Rodgers 2. Another competition, “A Jar of Bush Foliage," was won by Miss Warren. A dainty supper was served by the hostesses, Mesdames J. R. Sneddon, J. Todd and L. Myers. A whist drive and dance will be held in Taylorville Pavilion on Saturday evening, with good prizes for cards and Mrs Bateman and Mr Gibson will supply the music for dancing
