REVOLT REVEALED
In His Own Party [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Rec. 12.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 18. “The cards appear to be stacncd agamst ivir Menzies,” declared a prominent Government Member to-day. He was discussing the revolt wit hit:, the United Australia Partv. Tni-l revolt has suddenly become r.wre pronounced. It has now been revealed uT.t three United Australia Party Members, Mr Hutchinson (.of Victoria) and Sir Charles Marr and Mr McCall (of New South Wales) are definitely out for a change in the lead ership of the United Australia Party They are insisting that a meet ng of the Party shall be convened without delay. Sir Charles Marr stated to-day; “1 cannot see the Government living through the Budget debate. The weakness on the Government side is the fact that private members nave been ignored. Our leader expects us to be a band of ‘yes men,’ and we cannot take it.” Mr Hutchinson has asked the Government Whip, Mr Guy, to summon a. special Party meeting to discuss the question of the Party leadership. Mr Hutchinson expresses it as b’s opinion that only Mr Fadden is capable of brining about harmony -nJ unity in the Federal Admin'stration. Mr McCa'l has expressed a s’milai view. The Prime Minister, Mr Menzies, who at present is in Sydney. Ims replied to his critics. He declared that any attempt to put him and Mr I? adden at loggerheads would fail. He said: “I have no intention of resigning the leadership; but if the P .wtv de~ ! res me to stand down that is a matter for them.
