Model of Consistency: Talenta, though she was winning only her fourth race to date in the Otaki Hack Handicap and still has £5O to go to emerge from hack cla'ss, has been a model of consistency this season, as she has only twice failed to weigh in in 19 starts. This three-year-old Tiderace filly is now very solid over the closing stages of her races, and on Saturday she came from five places back to wear down Sceptre, who had made the running from Pitmark and La Rosita. War Credit and Little Margot finished on better than Pitmark, who was; a prospect till inside the last furlong. Horses Under T. R. George:

Every autumn for the last three years the Trentham trainer T. R. George has produced a hack performer who has maintained a wonderful winning sequence. Two years ago Trebor, a winner of three small races in the previous season, resumed his winning form at the Rangitikei meeting in March and continued until the end of the season, scoring seven times in his next nine races. The last of these was the Mcßae Cup at Hawera, and the seven victories were gained in a period of exactly two months. The star performer of the stable last autumn was Trench Law, who won six races, the last three, won in succession, being the Taranaki Cup, Paul Memorial Handicap and Silverstream Handicap. Most prolific winner this year in the stable is Beau Ciel, who has won eight races since January, seven being in the last two months. They included a dead-heat for first at Blenheim. Beau Ciel is by Beau Pere and is closely related to Cuddle. qs their respective dams were full sisters.

Young Horses: Young horses who are expected to be ready to represent the Chokebore stable early in the new season are the unraced Court Dress, by Nightmarch from Ball Dress, and Donnybrook Fair, by Loxbridge from Babel. Donnybrook Fair is a half-brother tn Wild Talk, who has not raced this season, but is again in training.

Sister of The Monarch: Madam Rachel, a two-year-old sister to The Monarch, and Te Marua, a three-year-old filly by Croupier from Aroma, are two promising members of A. Goodman’s team Astros: Astros, a rising two-year-old gelding by Theio from the Acre mare Asturisca, is being prepared at Trentham by H. A l . Telford. This youngster, who is very thick set, is a roan in colour. Recovered: % According to a report from Wanganui, Taurangi has made a’ good recovery from the trouble that beset her after she had run second in the last New Zealand Cup,. and it is hoped to put her back into training in the spring. Appeal: Khurja’s trainer, J. H. J'efferd, ha's carried his appeal against the decision of. the Wanganui stewards to the Appeal Judges of the Racing Conference, who will probably hear the case on Friday afternoon next. The protest on which the appeal is based was against the hack sprint at the Wanganui Meeting last montn being awarded Surveyor-General. Mildura: The intended importation of Mildura, winner of the Newmarket and Doncaster Handicaps, for use as a sire in the Hawke’s Bay district recalls the fact that several other horses of Australian origin have been brought to the East Coast, including Dreadnought, San Fran, The Officer. Mountain Knight, Mernwee and Finland, a'll of whom were successful. Sold: Mr. H. Glazebrook. Hastings, has purchased the rising two-year-old colt by Foxbridge from Flying Juliet from Mr. T. H. Lowry, who paid 500 gns. for him at the January sales. It was then that Mr. Glazebrook secured the colt by Foxbridge from Merry Way. Both youngsters will be trained by P. Hazelman. They were bred at the Trelawny Stud. Norse: Norse, who won the Duke of Gloucester Cup on Thursday, is a four-year-old gelding by Valkyrian from Flourish, by Clarenceux. His last previous race was last August, when he ran unplaced in the Kennels Handicap at the Christchurch Hunt Club’s meeting. He is owned and trained by Mr. G. Paul, Who rode him in the Cup. Serenta’s Brother:

Representative is the name claimed for the rising two-year-old brother to Serenta. The two-year-old halfsister, by Friday Night, to Wardress, has been registered as Cheap Lodging. The yearling filly by Gynerium from Princess Ball, a half-sister to La Moderne and Gay Ballerina, will be known as Prairie.

Playgirl: The filly by Croupier from Hine Ra who will race as Playgirl next season is being prepared for racing by E. Simpson at Trentham. The colt by Croupier from Cuddle, who is under the care of T. R. George, is to be broken in shortly. Both youngsters will carry the colours of Mr. R. J. Murphy. 1
