INANGAHUA NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent] The annual meeting of the Inangahua Patriotic Committee was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall recently. Mr. A. W. Bell occupied the chair. The following officers were elected: Chairman: Mr. A. W. Bell (re-elect-ed); Secretary-Treasurer: Mr. _ Len Gittings (re-elected); Committee: Mesdames Arnold, Caldwell, Sidwell, Messrs Caldwell, Stowell. Mitchell, L. Wright, Whitehead, Delaney and Mellett. After the general business, a lengthy discussion took place regarding the holding of a Queen Carnival. Finally, the delegates to Reefton Central Committee meeting were instructed to report that this committee were in favour of holding a Queen Carnival subject to certain conditions. Ten parcels were received from local residents for soldiers overseas as well as several cash donations. Another successful euchre tournament was held last Saturday evening in the Y.M.C.A. for patriotic purposes. The prize-winners were Miss Betty Cook (lady), Mr. McLaren (gent). Consolation prizes: Mrs. F. Cook and Tom Bell. After a light supper, dancing was indulged in until midnight. Sparkling music was supplied by Mr. , Fred Quaife. Mr. Clarence Cook acted as M.C.
