INDIAN MOSLEMS

Against Unification (Received February 24, 9 p.m.) NEW DELHI, February 24. Mr Jinnah has been re-elected President of the Moslem League. The Council of the Moslem League has passed a resolution disapproving of the Secretary for India, Mr L. Amerv’s recent pronouncements. The resolution states that those pronouncements “are likely to create the apprehension that Britain is still contemplating the possibility of a Constitution based on the economic and political union of India.” Mr Jinnah. in a speech, said: “Mahatma Gandhi could, not. fool people all the time. No Government engaged in a mortal struggle would tolerate his claim for the right: fo preach asainst helping its war effort. Mahatma Gandhi’s real motive is to coerce the British Government to concede the Indian National Congress demand. Th<> Moslems will not accent a constituent Assembly based on the adult franchise, or even a National Government.”
