MOTOR FATALITY
POWER POLE HIT FAMILY SUFFERS HASTINGS, January 9. The driver was killed, and his wife and one child were injured when a car crashed into a on the Takapau Plains, 11 miles south of Waipukurau, to-night. The victims were: Killed Baden Powell Palmer, aged 41, farmer, of Te Pohue, Hawke’s Bay.
I n j u red Mrs Sophia Rona Palmer, aged about 38; head injuries, shock, and abrasions. Her condition is not serious. Hadfield Palmer, aged three; a fractured skull. His condition is serious. He is the younger son of the Palmers. Selwyn Palmer, aged six, escaped with bruises and shock. Men harvesting nearby saw the car, which was travelling at =. high speed, leave the road, and strike the pole with a terrific impact, bringing the power lines to the ground. Palmer died while being attended by a doctor. The others were removed to the Waipukurau Hospital.
