REEFTON NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent! RiEEFTON, December 19. Messrs G. and P. White and Mrs Nicol and son, of Crushington, left by this morning’s train on a visit to relatives in Dunedin. The schools throughout the district closed yesterday for the midsummer holidays. Festivity Week in Reefton commences to-morrow (Friday). Already strings of coloured lights have been arranged in Broadway and the County lorry has delivered greenery to be set up at business places, so as to give the town a Christmas-like aspect. The business men are entering into the spirit of the season and are decorating their premises to the very best advantage. To-morrow afternoon at 2.30 o’clock the proceedings will open with a balloon chase for children for which some good prizes will be given. Special window displays will also be a feature of business premises, with prizes for the purchasers of lucky articles. On Saturday the Reefton Trotting Club’s meeting will be the main attraction and the day’s festivities will conclude with a patriotic dance in the evening in the Band Room.
