PRIME MINISTER’S VISIT

To-morrow’s Engagements

The Prim e Minister (Rt. Hon. P. Fraser), accompanied by Hon. P. C. Webb (Minister of Mines and Labour) and Mr M. Moohan, National Secretary of th e New 1 . Zealand Labour Party, will arrive in Westport at 8 a.m. to-morrow, after leaving Wellington by plane at 6.30 a.m. In the morning, the party will visit Denniston, where Mr Fraser will- deliver an address. A civic reception will b.-> tendered Mr Fraser by the Mayor of WestDort (Mr J. M. Robertson> earlv in the afternoon, and t-'.e Prime Minister hopes later to meet Ihe school children. Mr Fraser is timed to arrive at Karoro Airport, Greymouth, at approximately 5 p.m., wheip he will be met by Mr James O’Brien. M.P.. and representatives of the Greymouth Labour Party. At 7 p.m. a civic reception will b e accorded Mr Fraser by th e Mayor (Mr F. A. Kitchingham), the function taking p’ace on the steps of the Greymouth Town Hall’, or inside if the weather conditions are unsuitable. > An important public address on New Zealand’s war effort will be given by Mr Fraser in his reply to the speeches of welcome made by the Mayor and Mr O’Brien. At 8 o’clock to-morrow evening, the Prim P Minister will attend the banquet being he’d at the Lvceum Hall in honour of the 21st anniversay of the “Grev River Argus” as a Labour paper. This is the main purpose of Mr Fraser’s visit, as he w.as closely associated with the “Argus” during the memorable election campaign of 1918, when the late Leader of the Opposition (Mr H. E. Holland)

was elected to Parliament as representative of th e Grey district. VISIT TO RUNA’NGA The itinerary of Mr Fraser provided for a visit to Runanga at 10 a.m. on Sunday, when he will be accorded a reception and will deliver another address, later meeting the residents at the Miners' Hall. On Sunday afternoon, the Prime Minister, with Messrs Webb and O’Brien, will visit Hok’tjka, where a civic reception will take place at the Regent Theatre at 2 p.m. He will leave by plane from Hokitika early in the evening, proceeding direct to Wellington. 1
