MORE MURDERS By Chinese [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] SHANGHAI, December 16. Chinese gunmen shot dead the french Consular Judge, Edouard Dhooghe, presumably because he turned over the Chinese Court in the French Concession, to Wang Chingwei supporters. In the Hongkew area of Shanghai, the latest, victim was a Japanese medical student, who was shot in the back, allegedly by a Chinese, while vaccinating anoiner Chinese. He was the thirteenth Japanese serviceman t-n be shot by Chinese in the Jap-anese-controlled areas of Shanghai, in recent weeks. Marooning hundreds of foreign office-workers and snoppers, the Japanese authorities this afternoon suddenly stopped all ingress and egress from Hongkew, which is the Japanese occupied portion of the International Settlement following the murder of the Japanese student. These raids are regarded as replies to a peace appeal on Sunday from Bangkok. Therefore it is believed the Thai Government will retaliate as soon as possible., The communique claimed that the French were mass burning villages on the east shore of the Mekong River because of a suspicion of the loyalty of the villagers. It claimed that the French were doing their utmost to suppress an independence movement through punishments, including mass drownings of chained natives. A Thai communique said that Jrench planes on Sunday bombed Nakornpanom, where Thailand antiaircraft guns shot down one raider They also raided Mukdahan.
