From Norway GERMANS REHEARSING IT (Received August 5, 8.50 p.m.) STOCKHOLM, August 5. The Germans in Norway are forecasting that an offensive will be begun against England between August 8 and August 10. Trondheim, which the R.A.F. had badly damaged, is now . being strengthened as a “northern Singapore,” with short batteries and antiaircraft guns. The training of German solders has been intensified during the past fortnight, including- that of cavalry, who jump from crags into the sea, and then swim out to transports and embark by special gangways. Then they jump from the ships’ decks and return to the shore. It is stated that casualties among the men and horses are ten per cent.
