THE WEATHER

[Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, August 2.

The weather report is as follows: —

General situation: An intense anticyclone is centred east of the South Island, and covers the Dominion and Tasman Sea. Forecast: South-east-erly winds predominating in the North Island, and north-easterly winds in the South Island, the force mainly light or moderate, but freshening at times on the East Coast. Seas in New Zealand waters rather rough north of Whangarei and about Cook Strait, but decreasing in the latter area; slight to moderate seas elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate east to north winds, and slight to moderate seas. The weather is becoming fair to fine over the greater part of the country, but with a scattered drizzle, or light rain, in the Gisborne district and in North Auckland. Sharp frosts in the South Island, and scattered morning fogs.
