HARIHARI NOTES
[Our Own correspondent] A wedding of interest took place at St. Ann’s Catholic Church here on Saturday morning last, the ccmtraci.ing parties being Miss Beryl, Russen, youngest daughter of Mrs. T. Ford, Senr., of Herepo, and Mr. Stanley Miles, late of Dunedin, and head mechanic at the New Zealand Road Service here. The happy couple later left for Christchurch. The Rev. Father P. A. Joyce, of Ross, tied the knot. The Rugby match between Harthari and Rovers, the local teams, on the home ground on Sa.-wda afternoon was won by the former oy 14 to 3. Each side scorn d a try m the first spell, but Harihari took charge in the second, and have now won the championship. The three South Westland teams, however, win require to keep in form, with a challenge pending for the Dittman Shield. ' No doubt the South Westland Sub-Union .will arrange for knock-out competition. The first ball held by the local branch of the Farmers’ Union, took place in the Public Hail on Saturday evening, and was largely attended, visitors being present from Greymouth, Hokitika, and Ross in the north, and quite a large number from South Westland. . , Miss E. Revell, of the Westland Hospital staff, paid a visit here or the week-end Mr. P. Sweeney, of the road service, is on a brief visit to Christchurch. , . . ~ Mr. and Mrs. Leckie, or Greymouth, are on a visit here. Mr. J Hewer, Jnr., who has beei a patient in the Westland Hospital, is home again. Mr G. Rowley, of Barrytown, is on a visit to his parents here. Mrs. Innes, of' Springfield, who is here on a visit, proceeds next week to Christchurch. Mr. E. Brown, of Greymouth, paid a week-end visit to Harihari. Mr and Mrs. Gordon Robertson returned home last week after spell - ing their honeymoon in the Lui.ei and Nelson districts. Miss W. Martyn is on a visit Hokitika. , , ~o n Mr. A. Wall, Senr., who has been a patient in the Westland Hospital for the past week, is progressing ourably. Mrs. M. Puller, of Kumara Junction, is on a visit to her parents here. Mrs. C. Glass, Senr., is on a visit to Nelson. . ; Mrs. J. Graham has returned atte paying a visit to Ross. . . Mr. T. Ferguson paid a brief visit to Hokitika last week.
