LOCO MEN’S PROTEST

Against Security Tax WELLINGTON, July 29. The Wellington branch of the Engine Drivers’, Firemen and Cleaners’ Association unanimously passed a resolution protesting against unwarranted and unfair attacks on the pocket of wage earners by the imposition of the National Security Tax. urging the National Executive of the Labour Party to request the Minister ot Finance immediately to review the question with a view of giving effect to the Labour Party’s pledge of conscription of wealth for war emergency purposes; protesting agamst locomotive men being required to pay this tax until Cabinet has agreed to the recommendations in fuil of the tribunal set up to hear the Engine Drivers’ and Firemens’ Association’s claims for an increase in wages; and protesting against the Government applying National Security tax prior to the Court delivering its decision in reference to the application for an in crease in wages to meet increased cost of living.
