Former Ministers UNDER SUSPICION. LISBON, J'uly 28. A French liner is anchored iif. the Tagus, parrying 1200 French sailors from England to Casablanca. LONDON, July 28. The British United Press Vichy correspondent says: A military court has opened an inquiry, which involves charges against M. Mandel, that he attempted to communicate with Mr Duff Cooper and Lord Gori, against the interests of France, which is punishable with death. Mr Duff Cooper and Lord Gort allegedly arrived at Casablanca by seaplane. and sought contact with M. Mandel, who was aboard the Massiglia. The French authorities are reported to have ordered the seaplane to leave. M. Mandel was held aboard the Massiglia. The court is believed to be seeking to determine whether M. Mandel planned to fly to England and join General de Gaulle’s group. M. Daladier is reported to be held incommunicado in a Marseilles hotel.
M. Reynaud is under bouse arrest, near Vichy. M. Campinchi and M. Delbos are under strict surveillance in North Africa.
