AUCKLAND, July 27. The Monterey, which arrived from Sydney at 10.45 to-day, had to slow down for a brief period owing to heavy seas in the Tasman, tfie aftermath of the storm recently experienced in New Zealand, Passengers did not suffer any discomfort. The Monterey will sail for San Francisco al six o’clock this evening. On the second regular -South Pacific flight to Auckland a Pan American Airways clipper will, leave California to-night (Sunday morning New Zealand time) for Honolulu. It is not known which of the clippers,will make this flight. CHRISTCHURCH, July, 28.

Five hundred recruits in Christchurch have still to be medically examined, and for this purpose the medical board will sit on Monday and Wednesday, and on August 7, 14 and 21 HAMILTON, July 27.

After a safe-blowing in Hallenstein Brothers shop in Victoria Street early this morning, a constable and a civilian chased two men allegedly concerned in the incident. The constable caught one man, but he did not have the contents of the safe, over £l2O in his possession. Edward Benjamin, aged thirty-eignt, a seaman and porter-barman, appeared in Court this morning charged with being possesion of a jemmy, hacksaw, a screw driver, with intent to commit a crime.
