£2000 IN WILL
For War Purposes WELLINGTON, July 26. The total of interest-free loans and donations is £2,410,197. Among the interest-free loans are: Ano’nymous. Hamilton, £15,000 for' the duration and six months. New Plymouth Harbour Board, £5OOO. Invercargill Building Society, £2,000. The Minister of Finance (Mr Nash) stated to-day that £2,000 has been bequeathed to the New Zealand Government under th e will of . Mrs H. V. Bayley, of Auckland. The will stated that this sum is “to be applied towards defraying the expenses of the present war against Germany and her allies.’” The action of th e late Mrs Bayley, in making this provision, was much appreciated by the Government. He felt that her relations would be proud that she was the first to make such a fine gesture. BEQUEST TO PRESBYTERIANS DUNEDIN, July 26. Under the. will of John Taylor, a retired farmer, of Oamaru, whose .estate has been sworn for probate purposes at less than £24,000 a bequest of £4OO fre e of death duties has been rpedc to .the aged and infirm ministers’ fund of the Presbyterial Church of New Zealand and £2OO has been placed in trust with the Perpetual Trustees Company of New Zealand, Ltd, to invest and pay the income therefrom to the uowet Waitaki Presbyterian Church.
