The Red Cross and Patriotic Committees thankfully acknowledge the following articles which have been ;sent, to jGneymoujth:—MrS 1 KXQuist; 1 pair mittens, hot water bag covers, Mrs Ord, 1 scarf, z Mrs Tuck 1 scarf, Mrs Sadler 2 scarves, 2 pairs mittens; Mrs Becker 1 scarf, 2 balaclavas, 4 pairs mittens, hot water bag covers etc.; Mrs Johnson 1 scarf, 4 pairs mittens, 1 balaclava; Mrs Buist 1 Mrs Parkynson (Haupiri) >2 pair s mittens, 3 scarves; Mrs Fluety 2 pairs mittens; Mrs Adamson 1 scarf, hot water bag covers; Mrs P. Donnallen 1 scarf; Mrs N. Nyberg, linen tray covers etc.; Miss Helen O’Quist 1 scarf; Mrs Taylor 1 scarf, 4 pair s mittens, 2 pair gloves; Marjorie Taylor 2 pairs mittens. The senior school girls: —Betty Ora, Doreen Burr, Eileen Adamson. Patricia Collins, Kathleen Gosling, have Started a knitting “bee” every Thursday, having finished 1 scarf each and working at balaclavas and mittens at present. A pleasant evening was spent at the community sing held in th e hall last Saturday for the Patriotic Fund, Auctioned goods sold briskly, prices running high. An item was given by the Brownies, also a vocal item with ’guitar accompaniment by Mrs j.
Weinberg and Miss Tuck. A short danc e followed, music being provided by Mrs Ord and Mrs Taylor. Mr E. Becker acted as auctioneer. The sum of £ll 2s 6d was realised.
Mr Eugene O’Brien has returned from Christchurch. Mrs Taafe is at present on a visit to her sister, Mrs W. Sadler, while her two son s and daughter are on active service. .
