N.Z. PUBLIC SERVICE
Objection to Tests WELLINGTON, July 2C. A member of the executive of . the Pub’ic Service Association, replying to statements made by the Public Service Commissioner, in his annual report to Parliament, says: “It is with widespread amazement and indignation that public servants throughout New Zealand received th e statements. Numerous protests have been received by the executive from various branches of the Association throughout the Dominion, and the Dominion executive, in view thereof, has decided to hold a special meeting on Monday night to consider and discuss the matter. It considered especially unfortunate that the Commissioner should choose th G present time to publish ■.-■ such statements, as it was by the special request of the Prime Minister himself that the public service executive only recently met and discussed witn the Commissioners representative's the possibility of an amicable settlement of th e whole question of efficiency tests. It is considered that tno Commissioner, in thu s publicly airing his side of the question, is taking an undue advantage, in view of the fact that the discussions between the two parties have not yet been finalised. . ” ■• .
