MOTOR-CAR RAFFLE
Patriotic Appeal
Already over 4000 tickets have been sold in Greymouth alone in the motor-car raffle being conducted by the Greymouth Patriotic Committee for the Westland Fund, and it is hoped that when the raffle closes a sum of between £2OOO and £3OOO will have been raised.
The appeal for slogans has attracted over 20 entries, and Messrs Greenslade and Mitchell have been deputed by the committee to choose the prize winners. Members of the Greymouth Committee have visited many country districts, and committees have been organised, and tickets are now on sale from Inangahua Junction to Bruce Bay.
In Greymouth, the town has been zoned, and sellers are active, while every business-house and industry has tickets on sale. Committees have also been formed to cover football matches, sports gatherings and dances. The committee will shortly run a fullpage advertisement in the local newspapers, the money for the advertisements having been subscribed by Greymouth business people. The committee, in assisting in the organisation of committees in various towns, have been able to clear up any misunderstandings there have been, and have been able to assure •country committees that all moneys raised will be credited to the particular district in which they were donated. In making these visits to country districts, members of the committee have used their own cars, so that there has been no expense to the committee. A committee elected in Hokitika is conducting sales in Hokitika and between Hokitika and Bruce Bay.
