WATERFRONT CONTROL

COMMISSION MEETS. WELLINGTON, April 17. The Waterfront Control Commission, set up by the Government to deal with problems arising on waterfronts, and rates of pay and conditions for waterside workers, commenced sitting to-day, Mr. R. E. Price presiding. The other members are Messrs H. A. McLeod, master stevedore, Wellington, and James Roberts, secretary of the New Z: aland Waterside Workers’ Union. It is understood that Mr. W. H. G. Bennett, secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Employers’ Association, is presenting the case to-day <Ai behalf of the employers. The proceedings, which are not open to the Press, are expectya to occupy some days.
