Mr. J. Smeaton, Mayor of Brunner, leaves this morning on a visit to Wellington. A (Copenhagen cablegram staled that Queen Ingrid has given birth to a daughter. The funeral of Mr Malcom Frank Washer took place yesterday afternoon' at Karoro Cemetery. Rew A. D. HoweTi X'rtucted the services at the residence at Cobden, and at incgraveside. Mr J’. Murray, of Sydney, a member of the Australian Contingent visiting New Zealand for the Anzac Day celebrations at Wellington, will arrive ■'to-day and will be a guest at the yicarage, Runanga.
Mr F. McMurtrie, Chief Insp.ctor.- of'Primary School's, will become Assistant-Director of Education at thj end of this month. He will be succeeded by Mr G. E. Overton, now Senior Inspector at the head office. Mr D. G. Ball, Senior Inspector of Native Schools, w 11 succeed Mr. Over- •• 1 *
In view of their marriage, to take place on Saturday next. Miss S Roberts and Mr M. McEnaney were me; by a gathering of friends at the residence of Mi - and Mrs T. Willis, Blaketown, and were presnted with a fireside chair. Best wishes on behalf of the gathering, for the future health and happiness of the guests, was expressed by Mr P'. Co’.l who made the presentation.
