ALLIES AND TURKEY Military Talks ['Aust. & N.Z. <" ble Assn..? LONDON, March 14. The chiefs of all tre British forces in the Middle East have visited the Turkish capital since last August. Generals Mitchell and Jaunaud departed from Ankara after a visit of five days, during which they made valuable contacts with the Turkish General Staff. TURKEY AND ITALY LONDON, March 14. Authoritative Turkish quarters deny knowledge of the reported Italian proposal for co-operation with Turkey if the Soviet attacked the Balkans. CAPETOWN, March 14. General Wavell is flying to the Cape to confer with General Smuts on South African defence questions. He has already had a similar conference With Rhodesia and Kenya.
