DEATHS OF BOXERS

PRESBYTERY PRO D OSAL AUCKLAND, March 14. The matter of fatalities occurring as a result of boxing contests was brought before the Auckland Presbytery °in a motion by Mr G. M. Yule, who said he had had this matter on his conscience for a number of years. Mr Yule moved that the attention of the Minister of Internal /flairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) be directed to the many fatalities that had occurred as the- result of boxing contests in this country over recent years, and that the Min/ster be respectfully asked to have the rules of boxing amended to avoid the recurrence of these untimely deaths. Mr Yule said that so far as he knew there had never been a protest made against these recurring fatalities. After the Rev. J. D. Smith bad seconded the motion an amendment by the Rev. W. Bower Black to refer it to the public questions committee was adopted.
