The autumn meeting of the Wel-| lington Racing Club opened at Tren- ( tham to-day in brilliant weather with a large attendance. The track was in first class order. The totalisator handled £54,5248, an increase of £5334 on the first day last year. Inquiries into the running of Gaelic Song and Ruling Star in the Highweight Handicap were held. The judicial committee expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the horses, but the evidence did not show malpractice and no action was taken. An inquiry into interference met with by Areas in the Trial Plate was held but no action was taken. An inquiry into the interference with Ruatiti in the Tinakori Handicap was opened and adjourned until Saturday.
