HIGH COMMISSIONER WELCOMED WELLINGTON, March 13. A civic welcome was extended to Dr. Riddell, first High Commissioner for Canada in New Zealand, to-day, and Dr. Riddell was also welcomed by Hon. W. Nash on behalf of the Government. Dr. Riddell sa’d he was delighted to have the distinction of toeing the first cit zen of the Dom.nion of Canada to fill the post of High. Commissioner in New Zealand. Canada wanted to be helpful to New Zealand, which had been helpful to Canada. Practically the last words of the Prime M nister of Canad in were to the effect that .he was home sent to New Zealand to assist in every way to strengthen the bonds binding the two together.
