PRESS v. RADIO
LONDON, March 12. Major Astor, in a speech at the Empire Press Union annual meeting, when he was re-elected president, said that all recognised the importance of countering the German broadcasts, but many quarters showed lack of realisation of the responsible work the oversea Press performed. Sir Roderick Jones said that when Sir John Reith controlled the 8.8. C., it was regarded as a complement to the Press, and competition was eliminated.
