REEFTON NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent]. REEFTON, January 15. The Reefton swimming hath has now been filled with water from the supply struck in southern Smith Street. This water presents a much more inviting appearance than that supplied from the reservoirs, which is discoloured by running through birch country, The temperature of tne water is certainly cc-der, but the only effect is to induce swimmers not to remain so long in the water. The Rev. Father Heavey, formerly of Reefton, but now stationed at Hawera, is on a visit to Reefton. Since Friday last rain has been falling almost incessantly, though it cannot be described as particularly heavy. It has had a most beneficial effect on pastures and gardens, and has reitevea the shortage of water experienced by those in the country who have to reiy on tanks for their supply. The mangahua River was in a fair flood yesterday morning, but to-day is trnA a little higher than normal.
