The Minister of Lands, Mr - Boland, moving an Emergency Powers Bill, said the’ Government sought to be giyen power to deal with a threat of rebellion. He gave details as ,to,.money reaching the I.R.A. from outside, and of activities of a terroristic prospect. Mr Cosgrave (Opposition Leader) criticised the Government as. not having tqken precautions in 1923. ( K Replying, Mr De Valera said: — “Everyone knows that there are armed men at large who, generally, do not want to recognise Eire’s constitution, and who would be ready to use arms whenever it suited them. They are prepared to embroil Eire with her neighbours. ,The Irish people have given the Government the sole .power, of determining how the national policy is to be prosecuted.” • The Dail, Eireann, by 92 .votes -■ to 10, passed the second reading of Mr Boland’s. Emergency Powers Bill, which authorises the internment by the Government of suspected persons without trial. t .
