RUGBY FOOTBALL
CANTERBURY NOMINEES. CHRISTCHURCH, September 4. Canterbury nominations for the South Island Rugby team and for the All Black trials to be held in Wellington this month, were announced after the Canterbury-Southland match on Saturday. Ten players have been nominated by the sole selector (Mr. V. Craw). They are as follows: — G. T. Nolan, full-back. R. L. Roberts, wing three-quarters. J. S. Cartwright, wing three-quart-ers. . A. G. Hunter, centre three-quarters. W. Burgess, second five-eighths. J'. J. McAuliffe, half-back. P. K. Rhind, front-row forward. N. J. McPhal, front or back-row forward. C. W. Williams, lock forward. D. Herman, side-row forward. Although Canterbury has made more nominations than any other province except Southland, .which has nominated 12 players, it is probable that most of them will be given a trial in the series of matches to be held in Wellington.
